HK P30SK vs Glock 26: Which is the Superior Subcompact?

HK P30SK vs Glock 26: Which is the Superior Subcompact?

Posted by Mikayla Blair on 30th Apr 2026

If you’re in the market for a reliable concealed carry gun, it’s no surprise you’ve narrowed it down to the Glock 26 and the HK P30SK. Both are subcompact, 9mm pistols that make excellent everyday carry weapons.

So, what’s the difference between the HK P30SK vs Glock 26?

The Glock 26 and HK P30SK are similar in size, capacity, and functionality, but have some important distinctions. While the P30SK comes with an accessory rail and is available with or without a manual thumb safety, the G26 has an optics-ready MOS variant and Glock’s Safe Action Trigger System.

In this article, we’ll break down all the differences between these two firearms to help you determine which might be a better fit for you than the other.

Glock 26

The Glock 26 is a subcompact pistol specifically designed for concealed carry. It’s chambered in 9mm and comes standard with a 10-round magazine capacity, though larger magazines are available that can hold up to 33 rounds. Weighing only 21.52 ounces unloaded and measuring 6.5 inches long, 1.26 inches wide, this concealable gun packs quite a punch for its size.

The G26 is a nice, compact option, making it an ideal backup weapon for those who use a larger pistol as their primary carry gun. This is especially true considering that the larger magazines of the Glock 17 and 19 also fit the smaller Glock 26.

This pistol is designed with Glock’s Safe Action trigger system, which features three independently operated mechanical safeties that are built directly into the pistol’s fire control system.

Built with all the same features as its larger framed predecessor but in a concealable package, the P30SK is an excellent choice for concealed carry.

This versatile pistol has interchangeable backstraps, lateral grip panels, and multiple trigger firing module options to choose from, making it a highly customizable firearm.

Available with a 10, 13, or 15-round capacity, the P30SK is chambered in 9mm and weighs just 23.99 ounces with an empty magazine. It has a Picatinny-style rail for mounting accessories and a fixed front and adjustable rear 3-dot sight.

P30SK vs Glock 26: Size & Capacity

The HK P30SK and the Glock 26 are both chambered in 9mm. The G26 comes standard with a 10-round capacity, with extended magazine options that hold up to 33 rounds. The P30SK has a 10-, 13-, or 15-round capacity.

In terms of size, both pistols are considered subcompact and have very similar dimensions. The HK is slightly heavier, taller, and thicker than the Glock, while the G26 is a bit longer overall.

The HK P30SK weighs 23.99 ounces and measures 4.57 inches tall, 1.37 inches wide, and 6.42 inches long with a barrel length of 3.27 inches. The Glock 26, on the other hand, weighs 21.52 ounces and measures 4.17 inches tall, 1.26 inches wide, and 6.50 inches long with a barrel length of 3.43 inches.

Glock 26 vs HK P30SK: Frame, Slide & Barrel

The Glock 26 features a subcompact polymer frame and a Tenifer-coated steel slide. It has rear slide serrations and grip stippling for better handling. It also has a modular grip with interchangeable backstraps, which is great if you need to customize it to larger or smaller hand sizes.

The P30SK is built with a high-strength polymer frame and a carbon steel slide with a nitro-carburized finish and front and rear serrations. It has a cold hammer forged barrel made from canon-grade steel and a dust cover with a Picatinny rail. The P30SK’s grip has an ergonomic design, interchangeable grip panels, interchangeable backstraps, and molded finger grooves for a more secure grip.

HK P30SK vs Glock 26: Sights & Optics

Although neither of these pistols comes optics-ready, they are both equipped with factory sights. Plenty of aftermarket sights are also available for both models if you’re looking for something a little more advanced, and the Glock 26 does come in an MOS variation if modular optic compatibility is a dealbreaker for you.

Looking strictly at the standard sights, the HK P30SK has non-radioactive luminous front sights that are adjustable for both elevation and windage and an open rectangular rear sight with contrast dots, giving it an edge over the Glock 26’s standard white sights.

P30SK vs Glock 26: Controls

Trigger

While the Glock 26 has a simple single-action-only trigger with built-in safety features, the P30SK is available with multiple trigger options depending on your preference. It has a double action/single action trigger with a decocker, as well as two “Law Enforcement Modification” variants that are double action only.

Safety

The P30SK comes with or without an ambidextrous thumb safety and has automatic hammer and firing pin safeties. Alternatively, the Glock 26 does not have a manual safety and instead features Glock’s Safe Action trigger system, which is designed with three independent mechanical safeties that disengage as the gun’s trigger is pulled and re-engage when released.

Which is Right For Me?

Both the G26 and P30SK are reliable, quality guns that make excellent concealed carry weapons. So, how do you choose between the HK P30SK vs Glock 26?

The right pistol for you depends on your specific needs and preferences. In terms of size, capacity, and caliber, you can’t go wrong with either gun. That said, there are some significant differences between the two that may make one a better fit than the other.

If you’re looking to mount accessories, you can easily narrow down your choice. The P30SK comes with a Picatinny-style accessory rail, allowing you to mount various lights and lasers. If optics are more your thing, you may want to consider upgrading to the Glock 26 MOS variant, which comes optics-ready, unlike the standard G26.

These guns are also built with very different safety features. While the HK is available with or without a manual thumb safety, depending on your preference, the Glock does not come with this option and instead has Glock’s Safe Action Trigger System. So, if you’re looking for a manual safety, the P30SK is the way to go.

There’s also a pretty significant difference in price, with the HK P30SK costing over $200 more than the Glock 26.
